Hi All !
This summer I am spending some time outdoors with the Cambridge Arts Council, working on their art conservation team! I am very lucky to be working with three amazing woman artists - Nichole Speciale (http://nicholelizspeciale.com/), Elisa Hamilton (http://www.elisahhamilton.com/) and Beth Plakidas (http://www.bethplakidas.com/) and the amazing conservator of C.A.C, Rika.
You may see us around Cambridge this summer - I am thrilled to be part of an effort that keeps public art intact and looking great for all to enjoy. We have some amazing projects coming up so I will keep you posted.
If you are interested you can follow us here!
Happy summer!!
Yesterday I painted a new design in Santiago, titled "Meet Me at the Meeting Place". It was a lovely public intervention, and I am so grateful to have received LOTS of positive feedback and support. It is located on Calle Irrarrázaval, on the corner with Brown Norte for those passing through Santiago. Viva el arte callejero! :) :)
I was very excited to see that Gallery Babel, a new platform in Santiago, has added me as a featured artist on their website. Here's a link to check it out, for those who read a bit of Spanish: http://www.galeriababel.com/author/lena-mccarthy/
This Saturday, January 28th, I'm looking forward to participating in the Visual Arts Fair at the Cultural Center of La Moneda, (the Presidential Palace in Santiago, Chile). Please stop by from 12 - 8PM!
Happy New Year! Just last week I completed a 1 day mural - titled "Crecimiento" in Ñuñoa, Santiago. It was a truly lovely experience painting, and I am so grateful for the positive energy from the people of the neighborhood. The mural is located at approx. 2435 Calle Irrarázaval (intersection with Pedro de Valdivia). Please check it out, those in Santiago!
2016 has been an amazing year. I started it off sketching and painting while traveling in the Patagonia, and am ending it by showing some of the work that has resulted from those experiences, and my nearly 2 years' time living in Chile. The end of the year has been - per usual - a very busy time! I would like to update those who are visiting and take a moment to say thank you to some people:
At the end of November, we put on a lovely open studio event at Taller K, thank you so much to those who came out to see my work. And to Dresden craft beer for providing their products! We had a fantastic turnout.
This month, my piece "New Hands" has been in the group show "Migration" put on by the FOBEJU foundation in Lo Barnechea, Santiago. Thank you to the Círculo Israelita of Santiago for a beautiful catalogue of the show.
I was able to participate in a street fair on Orrego Luco in Providencia - thanks to Bazaar Santiago.
Three pieces of mine will be on display at Daniel's Café in Ñuñoa during the upcoming months- check them out if you are in the area! And coming soon on the online gallery tiendababel.cl (I will keep you posted!)
My work has been acquired by many new walls - both in Chile and the states. Thank you so much to friends who have supported my work. And to the many new faces I have gotten to meet! It is truly an honor.
Thank you to Alfonso Fernández, a very talented Chilean artists who opened his home studio to me and has been an amazing friend and support in learning about the art world in Chile. Here is a link to his website: http://www.alfonsofernandez.cl/

Thank you to Katica Puga & Dani Villalón for their artistic collaboration and friendship.
Thank you to the amazing Bara Kim for convincing me to utilize Instagram and managing my account.

I recently bound together the "plein air" gouache sketches that I made during an 18 week journey through the Patagonia... The covers are collaged and the book is bound using a Japanese technique. A big thank you to Dani Villalón for the private bookmaking lesson and excellent creative energy!
I'm pleased to announce that my mixed media piece "New Hands" was selected for the group exhibition titled Migration of the FOBEJU Foundation.
I invite you to join me at the inauguration on December 7th at 7:30 for those of you in the area!
The show will be open to the public from Dec. 7 - 14 in the Círculo Israelita de Santiago, located at Comandante Malbec 13210, Lo Barnechea (Santiago, Chile).
Over the past few months I've been teaching myself to make handmade paper and experimenting with different techniques. A very fun creative discovery for me! Lately I've been working on some small works made using the papers. The photos never quite capture all of the subtleties they have in person- each paper is full of detail and is entirely unique. Those of you in Santiago, feel free to come by Studio K and see for yourself!
